Friday, March 8 is International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is “The Gender Agenda. Gaining Momentum”.

In honor of this important day, I will be hosting a Twitter chat so we can check in on how we are doing with the raising and educating of our girls.

DATE: March 8, 2013
TIME: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. PST
Location: Twitter. Hashtag #raiseagirl

The chat will focus on two key questions:
“Will girls today have equal opportunity as women tomorrow?” and will move into
“What needs to be done to empower girls now?”

Twitter chats are never closed discussions. All ideas, questions, observations and reflections are most welcome.

Don’t make me talk to myself (although I confess I find myself extraordinarily engaging and humorous when left to my own devices). Please join me and let’s chat about the future of our girls and what can be done to raise our girls into equal, empowered women of the world.

One more thing. In the websearch for a stock photo of a school girl to use in this blog post, my Google search yield ten website hits, nine of which were links to erotica, porn or exploitation of the school girl image. It is a stark reminder that we have some distance to go. Sometimes I wonder if the gender momentum is taking us in the wrong direction. Bring your thoughts to the chat. See you at #raiseagirl
